about

In the sultry ‘Desire’ Vincent Coomans finds his body overgrown by mourning. His muscles are paralyzed, his mind is blurry and his perception is stained by a constant sense of guilt and shame
that took hold of him while he was mourning. ‘Desire’ opens with a set of wide strings, immediately followed by a casual acoustic guitar and a straight-forward drum. In this vibrant, dark pop track Coomans’ voice navigates on the pulse of the music, he filters his body and the
body of his wife until they are foreign airless bodies, without any sense of tension, without any sense of weight and without any sense of the grief that looms in the human tissue. Until he finds lust, nothing more than unrestrained lust. In the video the Dutch visual artist and writer Sandro van der Leeuw makes an interpretation of Vincent’s search. In photographic poses the artist relates himself to a mannequin in a very intimate exploration of the human body. ‘Desire’ is the first official single from ‘The Great Rebuild’, the first album from Vincent Coomans, that will be released through Illuminine Records in january ‘23.

lyrics

I feel how desire creeps up on me
with an aftermath of guilt.
I call it a buzz.
Sometimes I think it’s a sin
but you say that this is how we all exist.

I long to be empty.
I’m in search of a thrill.
It’s the nature of this body
in which i live in.

Gorgeous stranger of mine.
Let’s get out of town.
To this place where there’s no
weight around our hearts.
To a place where there’s nothing more
than unrestrained lust.

I wonder how she loses her lust
Is it always dependent on me?
Tell me was the shame first
or was it the shadow she felt?
The motion she still hears.
The rats under the bed.

How dreadful is thirst
if the water’s still here?
But you don’t allow yourself to drink it
up.

Gorgeous stranger of mine.
Let’s get out of town.
To this place where there’s no
weight around our hearts.
To a place where there’s nothing more
than unrestrained lust.

All I want is unrestrained lust.
All I want is unrestrained lust.

Gorgeous stranger of mine.
Let’s get out of town.
To this place where there’s no
weight around our hearts.
To a place where there’s nothing more
than unrestrained lust.
